Random stuff
I'm feeling a little hyper right now, so here's some random for you.
I was going to write a list of the things I want to do this year, but then stuff came up and I forgot about it, and now it's kind of too late. Uh, let it be said that becoming fluent in at least one more language and finishing WoF were among them. :D
Anyway, the other day I stumbled upon these two fanarts.
Aside from hilarious, it's pretty accurate. Brazil -- or at least Rio -- is more like Rome, that is to say, the traffic lights are suggestions. Peru is like Naples, though; the traffic lights are decorations. XD And yes, even I, who have lived in Rio all my life, had to rely on pengychan to help me cross the streets in Rome. They were kind of scary!
While I wish people here respected the traffic lights a little more, I think Germany (and other countries) goes a little overboard. I mean, you're clearly in a deserted street, so why wait for the traffic light go turn green? Do you have any idea how silly you look when you do that? XD I'm also convinced this is why lots of German/Japanese/etc tourists fall in love with Rio. They can cross the street any time they want! What freedom!
Speaking of Naples, it's such an interesting city, and here I mean "interesting" in the Chinese sense. The other day, I was reading random articles on WikiTravel and there was this quote: "Some may find the conditions of many buildings and streets, and the rampant graffiti, off-putting. Others claim this is 'the immense character and culture of Napoli... and even the dirt and grime has its own flavor... a Neapolitan recipe for reality, and great fun.'"
I LOL'd. If you say so, guys...
Sadly (?), I haven't been there for longer than 50 minutes, but if I could ever go back, I'd visit the museum that got all the stuff from Pompeii and then I'd take the first bus to go up Mt. Vesuvius. 8D
On a totally unrelated topic, I've been seeing a lot of Hetalia fics based on "Carmen" lately. I have no idea why, and I try not to think about how inaccurate some stuff is. Anyway, coincidentally, the Hey Arnold episode that parodies that opera recently aired here, and while it's a great episode, I get second-hand embarrassment from how awful the dub is in the singing parts. So, I tried searching for that episode in English, and the singing is pretty good! (Or at least better than in Portuguese.) My favourite part in both dubs is still Curly's rendition of the Toreador Song at 7:50.
