A month or so ago, I read somewhere that they were making a new DBZ movie. Not the live-action one, that's old news, but an animated one that was supposed to be set after the Majin Buu arc. I did not believe it, of course. I mean, it's been a decade since they made the last DBZ movie, and I thought, are all the VAs even still alive?
... Apparently, they are, but that's beside the point.
Today, I went to YouTube to watch a Bollywood clip, and I happened to see a DBZ video among the "Videos Being Watched Right Now" list. The frozen scene looked utterly unfamiliar to me, however, and out of curiosity, I clicked on it.
O... M... G... It was the new movie! And... and... oh. *sob*
Spoilers ahead
You know those cliché fics in which Vegeta has a long-lost sister that miraculously escaped the destruction of planet Vegeta and then, one day, comes to visit her brother on Earth? This movie is like that, except it's not a sister, but a brother.
WTF?!?!?! Vegeta has a brother?! A brother who looks like the lovechild of Vegeta himself and Gohan, to boot!
When the boy called Vegeta "nii-san", my brain just about exploded. It was surreal, like seeing a bad fic come true right before my eyes, only with official animation and Japanese voices. If this movie had been made ten years ago, I'd have died of happiness, but now it only makes me cringe. I am afraid of watching the whole movie, but I know my curiosity will get the better of me.
For anyone interested,
here's the excerpt I watched.
