Goku has a mother?!

I just found out that Goku's mother has been revealed, and my, she's so cute and interesting! Too bad this new chapter in the DBZ storyline has some serious continuity issues. I'll have to reread certain parts of the original manga to check the details and make sure I'm not mixing it up with anime-verse facts, but off the top of my head, I have to wonder:

1. Where are Zarbon and Dodoria?

2. Where's Nappa?

3. I'm pretty sure Goku wasn't 3 years old or wearing armor when Grandpa Son Gohan found him?

4. Wasn't Goku sent to Earth because he was born a low-class warrior and Saiyan babies like him were routinely sent to weak planets to conquer them? Wasn't this explicitly said by Raditz?

There are some things that I found really interesting, though!

1. We finally get to see a Saiyan who isn't a warrior! (Come on, they were bound to exit!) Gine, Goku's mother, is too soft to fight and exterminate planets, so she works at a meat distribution center on Planet Vegeta as a butcher. Apparently, this is also why Goku and his progeny are soft, kind people. And you thought it was because he had hit his head as a baby, haha! Oh, wait.

2. Gine and Bardock actually love each other and care about their children! It was widely assumed that they had got together for breeding purposes only, especially since the anime never shows Goku's mother or even mentions her (you'd think he was Bardock's clone, really) and Bardock doesn't seem to care about his sons. I really like the way Gine and Bardock interact; they just seem like an ordinary couple.

3. Even before Freeza decides to exterminate their race, there are only a few thousand Saiyans alive! Because they're a warrior race, they have trouble procreating and taking care of their children. This makes so much sense! Even Gine, who seems like she could have been a good mother, kept her son in an incubator for three years!

4. Vegeta just ignored Freeza's summons. Just like that. "Let's pretend we didn't hear it," and he kept eating. I don't know why, but I just thought his attitude was hilarious. Was he suspicious like Bardock, or just being rebellious and not giving a damn? Somehow, I can imagine Vegeta being a really obnoxious, rebellious teen, and oh God, now I can't get this image out of my head and I want to see it so badly!

Also, to add another character to our list of unlikely siblings, along with Vegeta's totally-not-canon brother "Tarble", we have "Tights", Bulma's older sister...
