That bunny on Hima's blog... it's so creepy! o__o
Anyway, Hima has been posting a lot lately! There was also this little note that caught my attention:
"Because the hot summers in Naples reach a melting level, I think it must have been terrible for people in the times of no air conditioning."
True. On the other hand, it probably wasn't as hot back then as it is nowadays. I know Brazil wasn't. We actually used to have a reasonable climate when I was kid, and from what my parents and my grandmother tell me, it was even milder many decades ago. So, Naples probably wasn't that bad either, in the past... Nevertheless, I'd love to write a fic about Romano dealing with his hot summers without no A/C, but all that comes to my mind is something akin to some Donald Duck story.
What really intrigues me is how people in Ancient Rome dealt with winters. Did they actually have winter clothes that would keep them warm? Whenever I see Romans in movies/comic books/etc, they're always wearing pretty light-looking clothes and the weather looks great. So, I have no idea what winter in Ancient Rome was like. I've read somewhere that Roman soldiers would wear socks when they had to travel north and tread on snow, but... that doesn't really sound like it'd be enough to me! O.O
