Hiragana and katakana exercises

Aug 23, 2011 21:12

Here's little exercise for my friends who want to practice hiragana and katakana. I had done another list of words, but it seems to have mysteriously vanished from the folder...

For hiragana-reading practice, I thought we could use the words for several colors. :'D I'm including the meanings here, but it's totally okay if you don't want to memorize them and want to focus only on reading.

あお - blue
あか - red
しろ - white
くろ - black
みどり - green
きいろ - yellow
ちゃいろ - brown
はいいろ - gray
だいだいいろ - orange
むらさき - purple

I don't know if you wanted to practice writing, too (please let me know), but in case you did, here are a few words in romaji. The words mean "I" and "you" in decreasing levels of politeness.

watashi
anata
boku
kimi
ore
omae
wagahai
kisama

To practice katakana, I decided to start with some North and Central American countries/territories.

カナダ
アメリカ
メキシコ
キューバ
コスタリカ
ジャマイカ
ハイチ
プエルトリコ
グリーンランド

The words in these exercises are all quite simple, so I'll try to come up with more difficult ones next time!
