I can't believe it's already May, but I'm happy it is! I don't even have a free weekend this whole month....
Quick overview:
Weekend 1: Theta family potluck and Cal State Fullerton's PCN
Weekend 2: Cousin's bridal shower/Bachlorette Party and Mother's Day
Weekend 3: UCI's PCN and watching Wicked at the Pantages
Weekend 4: My birthday weekend! and it's a 3-day weekend=)
Weekend 5: My cousin's Wedding
I haven't had this much going on since I was still in school, so as you can imagine, it excites me that I have so much lined up! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for my birthday, but I have a feeling I'm gonna end up just having a dinner somewhere (tentatively on the 24th or 25th so save the date if you can).
ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOTE:
I went to Karl "Miko" Packing's funeral yesterday with my brother. Some of you might remember him from Western. He was 3 years younger than us. For some reason, his death affected me a lot more than I could have expected. My brother and cousins knew him pretty well and it was hard to see them so sad about it. As most people already know, Karl took his own life by jumping off the on-ramp where the 55 freeway meets the 5. He was on his way home from dropping my cousin John off at his house, John was the last person who spoke to Karl. While it's not really necessary to go into details, it definitely wasn't Karl's time to go...unfortunately he wasn't in the right state of mind when he jumped. It was surreal seeing him in his coffin so silent and still because from how I remember him, he was either singing or at the gym. The most devastating part is that he had so much ahead of him, he hadn't even turned 20. I've never seen so many people at a funeral and it was touching to see how many people came to pay their respect. I just hope his death, and the way it happened, can teach others that we can always life life in a better way and that we shouldn't take it for granted....Rest in Peace Karl.
