Tonight is the season premiere of Futurama at 10pm! I can already hear the theme music because it's been playing in my head all morning. I'm so excited. I'm GIDDY with excitement. I have been waiting years for this. YEARS! Thank god Comedy Central had the good sense to pick it up and put it back on the air. My life... it is complete again! haha.
Of course, I had to make a cake for the occasion.
Yeaaah! Slurm! Just don't ask what the secret ingredient is. You don't want to know ;) hahahaha
If only Slurms McKenzie were around to party with us tonight... he's partying in heaven now!
I know the Slurm cake isn't perfect. It was because I was really busy with some other cakes yesterday!
Look at all this cake!!
I think there were 16 layers total. (One was still in the oven during this photo.) I used 12lbs of powdered sugar between buttercream and fondant on the cakes I did get put together lol. For a friend on twitter, I did three little cakes iced to look like big cakes:
The rest of the layers all went into Chelsea's mom's birthday cake. It's going to be huge. The bottom tier is two layers of lemon cake filled with strawberry buttercream and strawberries. The middle tier is three layers of dark chocolate and the top tier is three layers of vanilla. It's going to be epic. It's fully assembled and hanging out in my fridge. Needs to be decorated over the next couple of days. It's going to be the tallest cake I've ever made and it's going to weigh a million lbs hahaha. I bought a heavy decorative platter to build it on. I have 5 dowels in the bottom layer, five in the center and I even got to hammer one big dowel down the middle and I got to feel like I was on Food Network Cake Challenge, because they always get to do that hahaha. No photos yet because I don't like in-progress photos lol.
Instead, here's Gibson.
Have I mentioned I'm excited for tonight???????? haha.

Oh! And I forgot to mention, we test rode some bikes yesterday. It was like 90+ degrees outside and I was sweaty and kind of whiny, but it was nice to ride some bikes at the shop and get a feel for what I want. They didn't have the one I wanted to try in stock, Justin is going to let me know when they get one in. I need an XS because I'm so damn short lol. We're going to save up our money and get some good bikes that will last us a long time! Excited!
