I'm still waiting for... you to get over this

what a week!

I know I've hit briefly on New Years Eve, but I want to seriously bring it up again and re-enforce what a good night it was. Seriously. I love my friends. Everyone was there (except alex todd who had to work and Karen who was at another party... boo) But either way, there was no drama, everyone had fun, no one was ridiculously drunk out of their minds. I didn't pass out, I didn't take my clothes off. I drank absinthe which was hilarious. It tasted so gross and did nothing. Oh well. I now know better than to drink something that came out of a mason jar smuggled from Amsterdam. lol.

We watched Dick Clark who's face looked so tight I don't think he can close his mouth anymore.

I made a hasty retreat, but it was quite necessary, in order to participate in an opportunity at some marital relations lol... Happy new year! lol

Anyhow, last night was the Shady Side reunion show at Blind Bobs! I think it's possible that it was more crowded there last night than for Holidayton! seriously! It was insane at any given time, there were about twenty people outside and just people wall to wall inside. Getting a drink was next to impossible and getting from one side of the bar to the other was rough.

During Shady Side, I was in the very front with Janna. There were so many people that I kept getting pushed onto the stage. (It's only about 6 inches high) It's really hard to brace yourself on 6 inch platform... so I kept getting shoved right into the band. It started getting really old really fast and I was annoyed by all the young girls up front who I was convinced didn't know who Shady Side was before this reunion show. I know that shouldn't matter, but it would have been nicer to have all the old school kids up front.
Finally, I tried to get AWAY from the front, which proved to be even harder. My glasses and camera were almost broken in the process. It was wild in there.

I spent most of the night with Janna and at the end of the night we kind of drunkenly slow danced to the Get Up Kids, singing along to every song playing through the stereo as the club cleared and the stage was broken down.

It was a good night. According to my Twitter updates, I went to bed at 2:22am...

this morning I was supposed to be at work at 9am... I woke up and felt oddly rested... I knew this meant I was waking up way later than I should have been. Of course, it was 9:15. Oops. Late to work. Ah well.

Longest, slowest day ever at work.

I was looking at Craigslist, like I always do when I'm bored and saw that a bar Brian and I like to go to was hiring for a beer-knowledgeable bartender, so after work Brian and I went up there and he put in an application for the job. As I told him when he quit his other job, he NEEDS to have a second job. Seriously. He needs to. And he kept telling me how booked the studio was this month and guess what? He had NINE days cancelled on him today. That's $900 he will not be seeing. That's a lot of money. These people don't understand that this is his job and not his hobby. These people don't understand that when they cancel it fucks us. These people are family and friends and it's hard to do business with family and friends, but that's the way it is. It's fucks us when they don't come record. If your band is not prepared, don't book studio time.

I told him from now on, I don't care who they are, booking time requires HALF down and half the day of the recording. The only people who are going to be mad about this are the people who aren't serious and will just cancel anyway. No exception. One of the cancellations was his own cousin. So yeah, it doesn't matter who you are. Lame.

Oh well. It is what it is.

I've also applied for a second job at Club Masque. It's a huge gay night club downtown. It's only a few blocks away from our place. And it's a hip fucking place lol.
