The promo girl in me.
I started my new college marketing rep job at WMG this week. And with it... listening to a gazillion CD's.
You already know how much of a music whore I am (CD buying and going to concerts are my vices in life after all) and not only do I love hearing from people who they're listening to (if you've got a recommendation let me know!), I'm always mouthing off about artists (wanted or not!). So I figured what better to rant about on this thing?! Besides I'd be an awful rep if I didn't at least mention this stuff in my live journal since I'm being immersed in it. And before you say it- NO- I'm not just doing it because I'm spotlighting artists I am doing promo for. I have no qualms. This is music we're talking about, and I wouldn't recommend just *anyone* despite affiliations.
So here's my humble recommendations of the moment - AKA stuff you should check out (and tell your friends about!):
1. Regina Spektor: "Begin to Hope" (for those Tori Amos meets Bjork meets Norah Jones in you...)
2. Rock Kills Kid: "Are you Nervous?" (If you like The Killers and Hard-Fi...):"
3 Head Automatica: "Popoganda" (if you like bands like Sugarcult or Taking Back Sunday, plus the sounds of the power-pop mod of the 70's... YES really!... you'll love them.)
