Some new news:

Keane singer treated for drug use

Keane performed at the V Festival over the weekend
Keane frontman Tom Chaplin is being treated for drink and drug problems, the band have confirmed.
In a statement on the band's website, the 27-year-old said the time had come "to get the professional help I need to sort myself out".

Earlier this month the band cancelled shows in Edinburgh, Dublin and Ibiza, saying at the time that the singer was suffering from exhaustion.

They have also postponed a North American tour planned for next month.

Chaplin's statement said: "I've been having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out.

"I feel desperately disappointed to be letting down our fans, but I want to get myself right now so that I can be back on the road for the rest of the year."

The band, who played at last weekend's V Festival, said refunds for cancelled concerts should be sought at the point of purchase.

Keane, who also feature drummer Richard Hughes and keyboard player Tim Rice-Oxley, won two Brit Awards last year for best British album, for their debut Hopes and Fears, and best British breakthrough act.

Two years ago, they topped the BBC News website's Sound of 2004 poll of UK critics and broadcasters, which focuses on up-and-coming acts.

Their follow-up album, Under the Iron Sea, entered the UK chart at number one in June.

Biel Seals the Deal on Auctioned Date

Actress Jessica Biel dined in style on Friday when the man who bid $30,000 for her company took her out for a meal. The man, named simply John, was the top bidder at a Denver, Colorado charity auction, at which lunch with the sexy Stealth star was a top item. According to reports, Biel, dubbed the Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire magazine earlier this year, honored her offer at Denver's Palm restaurant. The dapper bidder, described as an oil and gas company executive, dressed in a white suit with a blue shirt and striped tie for the expensive lunch date. The money John paid for his date with Biel will go towards medical costs for Colorado native Molly Bloom, 18, who lost her leg in a car accident in May.

Margera's Uncle Arrested for Child Sex Assault

The uncle of Viva La Bam star Bam Margera has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child. Vincent "Don Vito" Margera, 50, was arrested by police in Lakewood, Colorado on Friday and accused of inappropriately touching a child. Don Vito appears in Viva La Bam as the victim of his nephew's practical jokes.

Play Creates Campaign for UK Arrival of “Entourage”

After developing a strong fan base in the US since 2004, HBO’s “Entourage” is finally making its way overseas to the UK. As described in a Brand Republic article, ITV has selected advertising agency Play to create a digital campaign to promote the series to the UK masses.

Play has developed a two-pronged campaign for the run-up to the series launch. It has created a teaser that will feature a URL for a microsite (imwithvince.com) that shows a noticeboard from Vince’s house carrying messages from A-list celebrities and personal notes. The site will not reveal the show’s plot or scheduling details. A “reveal” campaign will introduce the characters of “Entourage” by providing ads that link to a site featuring cast biographies and episode breakdowns. The website will also feature a fully interactive video sequence that enables users to role-play one of the characters.

“It has been great fun creating work for ‘Entourage’ and we expect our teaser and reveal campaigns to prove very effective for ITV,” said Jon Sharpe, managing director of Play.

“Entourage” will begin screening on ITV2 on September 10.

'Entourage' Creator Talks Emmys, Syndication

Doug Ellin won't let a little event like his first trip to the Emmy Awards stop him from writing the final episode of the current season of HBO series "Entourage."

Mr. Ellin, the show's creator and executive producer, has been working without a break on season three since last August, he said Monday during his weekly debriefings in Showrunner Shop Talk on TVWeek.com.

He plans to shoot this season's last episode Sept. 13. "I have an episode to shoot and no script," he said.

Mr. Ellin hopes this weekend will be his last working weekend for a while and plans to write up until he has to walk into the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

"Entourage" has been nominated for five Emmys, including Mr. Ellin's first nomination, for outstanding writer in a comedy series.

Mr. Ellin also discussed during Shop Talk what he does on the production to prepare for the possible syndication of the series.

One more original episode of "Entourage" will premiere Sunday at 10 p.m. (ET) on HBO before going on a break. The remainder of the season's new shows are expected to air in March, paired with the final episodes of "The Sopranos."

Rachel Dratch Demoted [Aug 20 2006 / 1:42am]

On Wednesday, SNL mastermind and 30 Rock executive producer put a positive spin on the decision to demote star Rachel Dratch from a lead character to a "wide variety of roles," telling Variety, "The way it's been rewritten, it's a much funnier part." Of course, what he meant to say was, "The way it's been recast, it's a much blonder, more conventionally bimbonic part." Reports today's THR:

Jane Krakowski has joined the cast of NBC's upcoming comedy series "30 Rock." The former "Ally McBeal" actress will play the star of "The Girlie Show," a network variety show that serves as the backdrop for the workplace comedy, which stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

In the original pilot, Rachel Dratch played the star of "Girlie Show." She is now set to appear in multiple episodes, playing different characters.

Luckily, Dratch's stubborn refusal to address the network's note to make her character "more like the Ally McBeal secretary who lost weight and got all that plastic surgery after their show went off the air...what? She's available? Let's just get her," didn't cost her a job. In fact, she'll still play an integral part in the rejiggered cast, as SNL mentor Michaels and fellow EP Tina Fey have already supplemented Dratch's "cat wrangler" role from the pilot with appearances in future episodes as "spinster with dozens of cats," "crazy pet store clerk with unhealthy interest in cats," and a scene-stealing part as "woman with psychological disorder that causes her to groom herself with her tongue and shred furniture with her nails."

I can't believe that Tom's going to rehab!
ciao!
