My Once in a Lifetime Experience
Okay, this might be a long one, but ill try to be as brief as possible =]
So Tuesday was the Evanescence concert, and i won those backstage passes and got a chance to see their soundcheck...so I got there a lil before 3. Soundcheck was at 3...so there was only like 8 winners, and they took us back to security, where all the tour buses were. There we waited for the Wind-Up Records guy, Ahmit...i think he owns Wind-Up...anyways, he took us back past the tour buses and into the building...which was full of guitars, amps, drums up the a$$ and everything else...it was AWESOME...all the other bands, breaking benjamin, three days grace, and seether were just kinda sittin around, hangin out, talkin...i was like AAHHH this is so kewl!!! i passed by the huge evanescence speakers and about died lol.
anyways, we walk down some halls, and on the walls were papers with arrows that said such things as "Evanescence Dressing Room ->", "Evanescence Amy Lee Dressing Room ->", "Evanescence Catering <-", and some other one...i was like omg we should all go to their dressing rooms hahahaha jk. Anywho, so this is a huge arena, and they took us to where the curtain were to enter the floor...and had us wait there till they were ready for us. So Ahmit was askin me all these questions and stuff and of course i sucked up as much as i could, just in case he decided to be nice and let me do more stuff, i dunno, like hang out with Ev or something?
haha...anywho, we start hearing Rocky just playin around with the drums, making sure theyre all toned right, etc...a few minutes goes by, and i have to pee! but i cant miss my chance lol. so all of a sudden, the piano starts going...im like AAAHHHHHHH!!!! i just had this huge smile on my face...and theyre on the sound system so its all loud like the actual concert, and the mics are on..and we hear her talking to her soundcheck people about stuff...and she plays a few keys and then asked the band over the mic "hey, do u guys care if they come in already? because personally, i dont give a shit if we sound bad or not" LOL...im like WWWOOOOOO go amy!! she wanted us to come in!...so i guess they all agreed, and this guy came to get us...and directed us onto the floor, where about 10 red cloth folding chairs were lined up in a straight single line, facing the stage...do u know how AWESOME that is?!! just us 8...pretty much ar our own private show...and evanescence is playing for us...it was like a dream. As we sat down, Amy was sitting at the piano, and got on the mic, and in a deep, low, sexy, radio voice said "Ladies and Gentlemen...Hello, and welcome...I will be your host for tonite....Delila..." as in that weird lady from that light rock station who people call in telling them their sappy story lol...and she continued with "If you have any problems, please....dont come to me" lol...it was hilarious...i guess u had to be there lol...but she was a trip!
Anywho, they started up, and played like 4 songs...i was in a daze obviously, but they started with i believe Haunted...then played Going Under, i think? I know one of the songs they played was going under or BMTL...and then they played the COOLEST cover theyve ever played yet...Thoughtless by Korn...but their rendition with the piano and Amys voice seriously kicked ass and was ssooo awesome!! i loved it! Then they played a 4th song...BAH...i forget what they played, sorry, my mind just wasnt all there that day LOL but i know it was 4 songs, and that was it...so that was the soundcheck, then they took us back out and told us to come back for the Meet and Greet at 6.
so 6 finally comes. we were supposed to go in at 6:10...and waited foreverrrr...the line for the Floor and Seating was already huge, and around 6:30, they were let in...so im like AAAHHH im not gonna get a good spot on the floor! =[ so finally around 6:45 they let us in. But this time there was about 35 of us from different radio stations and what not. and we all had to wear this triangular sticker that said Summer 2004 Tour, Evanescence Meet & Greet, with the date n stuff. So they took us up these stairs and into this room full of tables and chairs, and one bar on each wall, filled with wine glasses and bottles lol. so they lined us up in a line, and i was like 5th to last...so thru these doors on the side, comes the band...Amy was like "Hey guys!" i was like omg thats her...shes here...i about died. So they start coming down the line, signing whatever we wanted/asked them to. I didnt want to be an annoying fan, who asks for more than one autograph lo. And i didnt really come prepared, so i had a paper the station had given me with my schedule and times on it. So i used the back of that for the band to sign...anyways, the closer Amy got to me, the more butterflies i got...they got so strong i thought i would throw up...ive never felt them so strong before hahaha. So me and 3 other people infront of me were telling her we liked her shirt...it was red-orange and said "It's tomato, so fuck you!" with a tomato on it LOL...and she said it was kinda funny, cuz thats an inside joke between her and Shaun...because since hes got an accent, he says Tomato (toe-mah-toe) and she says tomato (toe-may-toe) lol...so the shirt was perfect. She doesnt have her piercing in anymore, but the holes were visible when she stood about a ft away from me LOL. anyways, she got to me, and of course i become incoherent and dont know what to say...i was like "heyyy" LOL...and thats about it...i was gonna tell her "oh its good u have a short name, right?" cuz then she doesnt have to put much effort into signing lol...but i thought thatd be dumb so i didnt haha...i honestly didnt know what to say...and still dont know what i couldve said, that was original, and didnt make me look like a freak lol...cuz how many times do they hear "youre so awesome"..."i love you guys so much"..."youre my idol" LOL...so i didnt wanna say any of that and humiliate myself...so after she signed it, i gave her my letter rolled up...its not a sappy letter about me and my life and how she saved it lol...she must get millions of those...this letter i wrote to her, about her...not about me. It was pretty much a motivational letter to remind her of why shes doing what she does and how shes been such an inspiration/influence to fans to be ourselves, be original, and also is the representation of a rocker chick that many of us have been waiting for... i dunno, i just wanted to write it down so she could read it if shes ever down in the dumps about stuff? lol..so anyways i gave it to her and told her "oh, and this is for you"...and shes likes "oh, thanks! Ill take a look at it later" and put it in her back pocket...which is fine with me, cuz i wasnt expecting her to sit there and read it LMAO. and what do u know, the girl right after me told her exactly what i had wanted to tell her: "its good that u dont have a long name, right?"...i was like BAH! i was gonna say that lolol...anywho, they had a convo about it and i was completely kicking the crap out of myself.
so she finishes signing, and then Will came down the line...he was absolutely MUTE!! im like whoa, buddy, u look thrilled to be alive. lol (i didnt really say that, but thats what i was thinkin haha)...then came John, who was the most talkative...even more talkative than Amy. hes just hot like always...lol...but i forget what we talked about but he was really cool and made u feel comfortable...like he was on our level, and not some famous guitarist...u kno? then came Rocky...Rocky i saw everywhere that day...i saw him before and after the soundcheck just walkin by, at this meet and greet, and also on the floor inbetween Three Days Grace and Seether's set. anywho, i talked to him and told him ive been a drummer for 9 yrs so i think hes awesome and hes one i look up to...and he smiled and was like "really? thanks!"...see, the rest of the band doesnt get as much praise and applause compared to Amy...and that kinda stinks...cuz they are all ssooo talented, and its like no one really notices...so when u give them ur attention or applause, they really take it to heart and are very honored...u kno? so anywho, Terry was the last one, and he was just as mute as will, but Terry actually smiled and was nice lol. and i told him welcome to the band, and that im happy hes with them now.
so thats pretty much the whole signing thing...during the signing, breaking benjamin had already started playing...but i can say it was definitely worth missing, seeing i got the chance to meet my favorite band in the whole world!!...
so since they had been running behing schedule, we didnt get to take individual pictures like they said we could...they only let us take one picture per radio station...sooo o wells...its sumthin right? so my station's group like RAN to the band when it was our turn, and i reaaalllyy wanted to stand by amy. but by the time i got there, these two girls were one each side of her...so i was kinda standing infront and to the left of her...well just as we were gettin our positions, Amy puts her arm around me instead of the girl! i was like HAHA wwwoooo!!!!! her hand was laying on my shoulder...so i put my arm on amys upper/mid back and ontop of her long hair. i was like ssooo happy that i must look chinese in the picture (no offense to any asians, it was just an example lol =]) so i thought i moved before the flash, so they took it again, but i had already pulled my arm off amy...but she put hers back around me and i didnt have time to put my arm back, so i kinda squatted next to her/infront of her...and it was kinda awkward cuz her boob ended up like laying ontop of my shoulder LOL...i found it kinda funny ahaha. so anyways we all moved and since we were the last group everyone was just goofin off and talkin...they were all sssooo awesome and really fun! and i saw my letter in her pocket and was like...thats my letter...in amy lee's pocket ..EEP! lol...i was the only person to give her something haha.
anyways i told them all good luck on stage, even tho they didnt need it cuz im sure they do it in their sleep lol...and they just laughed and amy was like "thanks!"...so that was it...they left and we cheered and then they kicked us out haha.
so, seeing this has been a novel already, im not going to go into detail of the concert...it was KICKASS, even tho im 4'11" and couldnt see ANYTHING...maybe an arm or a face every once in a while..but i didnt care, cuz i had the opportunity to have my own personal concert with 7 other people, and go to meet evanescence, and everyone else there didnt...so i wasnt going to try to push up front and bug people, because they didnt get the chance that i did, so i let it be lol. the concert, and all the bands were AMAZING! i loved every second of it!! it was a 4 hour concert and was just sssooo awesome.
if anyone wants the list of songs they sang, lemme know...i remember most of them, and will have my friends help me remember them, because obviously i was in a daze after that for like 2 or 3 days LOLOL...or it couldve been from inhaling all that 2nd hand weed smoke from the weed chains going around on the floor? haha who knows =/
if youve actually read this far, i must congratulate u, because this must be the longest entry that has ever existed during LiveJournal's existance lol.
