Seriously, I absolutely adore it. It is so small and lightweight, so convenient, so handy....I could go on and on! Last night at around 9:50 PM I finished the very first book I purchased for my Kindle,
A Breath of Snow and Ashes, by Diana Gabaldon. It's a sweet sorrow for me, as I have enjoyed the entire Outlander series very much, and am quite sad to be at the end of it. But the entire series was one fantastic read! And reading it on the Kindle was so much easier on my shoulders and neck than having to hold up the printed book that's 980 pages long. I was able to carry the book in my handbag, and it's gone everywhere with me since getting it!
Absolutely NO screen glare, unlike the eReader on my iPhone, the ability to vary the font size, the convenience of getting new books, for cheaper than the printed versions, and doing a little bit to hopefully reduce my carbon footprint. I'm an avid reader, and I have an inordinate number of books!! Hopefully I can save a tree or two with this handy little device.
So, this morning, to celebrate, I purchased a couple of new books, and downloaded a couple of "samples" of other books. So now, here's my dilemna.....where do I begin?! I have
Against Medical Advice, by James Patterson and Hal Friedman,
Dead Until Dark, by Charlaine Harris, (the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series that the HBO series
True Blood is based on), and a sample of
Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer. I've already read the sample of Twilight, and I'm intrigued. Seems like a quick read, and I had originally downloaded just the sample of Against Medical Advice, but downloaded the entire book as soon as I finished the sample. Given my career field, and the medical issues discussed in the book, it seems like a must read for sure. I'm so excited!!!
So, thank you Amazon, and Jeff Bezos, for this fabulous gadget. I'm hooked!! It has certainly re-Kindle-d my love of reading!!
