So I got back to Vientiane on the 18th of June? Something like that. The next day, Sang was invited to a girl's going away party during the day, and she took me and Joy with her. They wore the traditional sri, I think it's called- a kind of wrap-a-round, long skirt. It was all catered for and there were free soft dirnks and beer. We were there for quite a long time- from around 10:30am to 6pm. Way too much beer! There was a lot of Laos dancing. A guy would go up to a girl hold there hands togeter in front of them- like when you greet older people- and te girl would do it bac to dance. It would be rude to refuse unless you'd already danced with them once. I can't remember how many people asked me to dance, it was crazy! I hate being drunk when it's not even 7! Sang and I then went and got some food, and her friends Bia and Noi came and wanted us to go out with them. Of course we did. Crazy.
The last day before I left, Sang and I spent the entire day shopping. I bought her and her sister's new makeup, we bought loads of food and a couple of cd's. I went to the bank (again) and bought my bus ticket for the next day. Then we bought more food. Sang was going to have a going away party for me at her house. We finally got home, and Tall Lere came over and kept me company singing along to thai songs while Sang and Joy went and bought loads of beer and alcohol as well.
They cooked and people started coming. All my friend's who came out with us from the village, some of their siblings, Bia and Noi and her boyfriend. Quite a few people. Lae came after work too. I got considerably drunk. Hmm hmm. These people know how to party. Eating, drinking, dancing, sleeping in random places.. Sooo much fun. There may be more to that story but I think I'll keep it to myself for now. Don't worry, it's not tat interesting, just a drunken night when you get embarrassed when people tell you what you did the next day!
So the next day ( the day on which I was leaving in the early evening) I woke up with a very unpleasant headache and an upset stomach. Couldn't eat all day! Serves me right, I suppose.
Sang, Joy, Lae and Samlan stayed with me that day, until tey had to work or go home or other various things. A couple of the students from the village visited, and I, piece by piece, packed my luggage. As I saw my friend's off at the bus station, I started my next adventure (beginning with a 24 hour bus ride): Vietnam.
