Eh, so much for "I'll start with once a week".

But anyway, I'm trying.

So, I thought that after promising you more than once that I'd get to writing about my exploits in academia, I could just very well get to it tonight Basically, I haven't gotten much further than all of last year, and that's the sad, sad truth. I still have another paper left to write (social visibility and female German veterans, if anyone's interested in the topic) and half my Master's thesis to write. Aside from that, I need a couple signatures from lecturers and I swear, I'm actually working on that (or rather, I'm working on one, while the lecturer is working on the other. Which I only know because a fellow student asked him about an e-mail I sent him way back in October or something. Don't they teach adult academics that there's no shame in telling students "I can't give you that little checkmark in the online system right now because the system threw me out but I'm working on it" or what?).

I also finally managed to contact the guy who's supposed to be my thesis advisor and whom I still owe that last paper. He liked the idea for my paper (which is mostly a convinience solution on my part. I'd actually wanted to write about the situation of female German vets and had to find out that basically, no one knows what their situation is because no one bothered to get data on them. So, everything I'd have written would have been pure, unscientific speculation and I really, really draw the line at that. So I ended up suggesting I write about social insivisibility and its consequences, using female German veterans as an example. Or something like that.) and was okay with me handing it in mid-February and then talking about my Master's thesis. Which means that now I actually have to write the paper and think about the thesis and about, you know, what's coming after that. So naturally, my first impulse was to go and do exactly zero writing *head desks But yeah, I know I really have to write both if I ever want to graduate, so yeah. We all know the drill.

Aside from that, there's not much new on the academia front. I just really want to get it over with and graduate and hope I won't have to go for a PhD to get a decent job (because that would probably fail spectecularly). I promise I'll let you know if anything significant changes, until then assume that I'm at least trying to procrastinate less than I usually do.

Speaking of which, thanks to my newest toy - an Amazon firestick - and an atrocious lack of shows I'm following on Amazon Prime, I started watching Community and am now done with the first four seasons (S5 and S6 aren't on Prime yet *rolls eyes) but as I have been told, S5 and S6 are rather shitty, anyway? Opinions, anyone? Do Annie and Jeff hook up at some point (which would absolutely make the respective season unwatchable for me. I can and do like a lot of Community ships but I really, really do hate Jeff/Annie with a vengeance. Give me all the Jeff/Britta you have but seriously, no Jeff/Annie. No. NO. Sue me) or is it only ever teased and never resolved (that would make both seasons maybe painful but not impossible to watch)? Other points you'd like to mention either in favor or not for either season? Talk to me, people ;)

fandom: community, wonderful world of academia, fannish stuff
