I have to go!" in Japanese!), tried learning French (kept confusing it with Spanish all the time...) and even attempted Russian (wish I'd been less lazy and stayed with it because I like the language and it might have helped with job prospects...).

J. Sansom (an alternate history novel about what might have happened if the British had surrendered to Nazi Germany after Norway and Dunkirk). Ooh, wait, I just realized I did finish a book in the last couple of months, A Defence Weapon to be Known of Value, a book about US military women in the Korean War era.
