Since, you know, the party was two weeks ago but we had some really delicious food and I did a couple of the most beautiful icing swirls I ever made so I thought I should post the pictures anyway. Okay, so here we gooo!
Those are mini Earl Grey cupcakes from
The Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days and the first time ever I worked with Wilton food coloring paste (jelly?) and oh my fucking God, look at those colors (BTW, do I have to refrigerate them after opening or not? Anyone got any experience with that type of food coloring?)! And look at the little guy with the purple icing in the front, he's got like the best swirl I ever put on a cupdake!
Another picture of the cupcakes, with a focus on the green ones and Jesus fucking Christ, that green! That motherfucking green! I honestly don't wanna know what's in those color pastes but oh my God the outcome looks seriously unreal. (No, I have never seen so brilliant colors made with any German food colorings so please excuse my excitement)
And carrot cake cupcakes my sister made. The icing was a little runny but they were really delicious and look at those cute wrappers and the picks and the glitter on the icing :D (BTW, we bought the food coloring, the sprinkles on my cupcakes and the decoration for my sister's at
Cakeville Berlin. Thank God I don't live in that neighborhood or live close to it because I'd be broke in a matter of days if I had to walk past it every day...):
My sister also made the Pioneer Woman's
crispy joghurt chicken which is, together with chicken wings, about the only chicken on bone that I eat (I love chicken breasts and filet and what not but I just hate all this pulling and gnawing at bones). She totally swears by The Pioneer Woman Cooks but usually cautions that the amounts of butter and sugar Mrs. Drummond uses in her recipes should probably be reduced somewhat when trying out the recipes yourself. Anyway, this is what the chicken looked like:
She also covered nachos with grated cheese (this is honestly one of the best things ever and everyone should do those at a party because it's not a party with those damn nachos, dammit) and it looked like this:
And, to combat all that mh very healthy stuff, two friends brought a salad each (one pasta salat, left and one nacho salad, right, which is also one of the best inventions of all time because like who wouldn't want to have nachos in their salad?):
The party in itself was a rather small affair and it was more like a buffet dinner party but what the hell, the food was delicious, the conversation loud (so loud, in fact, that I needed a week to regain my voice afterwards but that might also have been a cold of some kind, one never knows) and I didn't regret sacrificing my Saturday night to go out into the cold and socialize. What more do you want of a party? Also, I got to wear this (actually, it was the sole reason I suggested having a Halloween party this year to my sister. I saw it a local Clair's store and needed some reason to buy it so yeah. But it's a bit of a pity that we don't have pictures of my sister's hipster owl costume. She made it herself. Fucking fashion designers):
So... on to Christmas, huh? (HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? HOW IS IT ALMOST TOTENSONNTAG HOW ARE WE JUST ONE DAY AWAY FROM THE CHRISTMAS SEASON WASN'T IT EASTER MONDAY JUST LAST WEEK?) Also, if anyone has nice links to easy Christmas crafting aside from
the Star Wars snowflakes I did last year (thanks again to
jess_being_me for the link, I loved those things to death :D) and all those awesome Christmas things on BHG that I will never be able to recreate... just link them to me, please?
Oh, and I know I still owe you lots and lots of recipes from this year's food post. I'll try to make a Big Damn Recipe Entry sometime before the end of this year so if there's anything you definitely don't want me to forgot in the post, please leave a comment. I'll see that I get to it :)
