O_o Not sure if a hoax or not...
but apparently, Leon Panetta just declared the combat exclusion of women in the US Armed Forces lifted. What is this I can't even when did that happen? Wasn't even last month everyone still yelling women will never serve in combat no no (even though they've been doing that for 281481414 years but since there was a ban on that, surely, no women have ever been seen risking and losing their lives in combat related situations, no?)? Seems like it, doesn't it?
Okay, so there are apparently a couple backdoors (when aren't there, with the military, especially the US Armed Forces?) but this is a major step, people! Even if probably a lot of those boys clubs like the Infantry and Special Operations will appeal for staying closed to women (sometimes, I really don't understand why Infantry think they're creation's crowning glory... no, scratch that, I generally have no idea why they think that) I still think that in the long run, they'll have to haul their asses into the 21st century and realize that they need women at the frontlines, even if it's just because they already aren't able to cover the personnel requirements. But still... major step, people!
