You didn't think I'd shut up about the whole Afghanistan thing, did you?

I mean, former Secretary of Defense Volker Rühe doesn't either, so why should I:

German Mission Is A 'Disaster'

Not sure if I tentatively agree or strongly disagree with his assessment of the situation (okay, I do agree with that) and with his suggestions as to how to solve it (he's right about us being in for a nightmare if we really want to stay ten years or longer there but I'm not sure if a successful exit can be made in only two years).

There's also a (pretty long and thorough) analysis about the German mission and the dilemmas it has caused so far:

Don't Shoot, We're German!

It does pose a few questions as to how we should go on and most of all how our allies might judge our contribution. Seriously, that's what I'm most interested in and concerned about. Any input on that?

Additionally, something interesting on the cyberwar going on in Afghanistan (and another reason why someone at the Einsatzführungskommando (Mission Headquarters) in Potsdam should start rethinking the Bundeswehr's approach to information distribution about all the engagements abroad, i.e. also KFOR , ATALANTA, Lebanon, Georgia (the one south of Russia, not the US federal state) etc.):

'Cyberwar' Intensifies Ahead of Afghanistan Election

And now it's back to working...

not a war, politics
