THE SHATTER ARROW STRIKES AGAIN!

wow... today was so much fun. went downtown to the world bank for a seminar on global poverty. it was really interesting, met some people, and then afterwards liz, shanti, and i dropped allison off at the metro and headed up to the smithsonian. they are hillarious... very dirty minds, but so funny. we saw some imax movie about coral reefs - also very cool. since i had mrs wu last year, i was able to predict the squid orgy and coral bleaching and recognized a ton of stuff - also very cool. my parents were all, parking in the city is crazy, take a cab... um, no. i ended up driving to the herndon monroe park and ride, catching the 6:49 bus to west falls church metro, and taking the metro from there to the world bank thing... so much fun - it was the first time i'd been on the metro since going to that girl scout sing along thing on the mall in seventh grade with alyssa... and then our moms and jenny and meg were there... this was all me... all by myself. it should have been kinda depressing, but it was actually really fun. I had to relax, because i mean, what was i going to accomplish on the metro? i stood in the middle of the aisle clutching the pole overhead and reading the poverty brief thing we were supposed to know, and the whole time i was thinking hey, someday in the not too distant future this is going to be me - reading some policy brief as i'm on the metro heading off to my job at some political office or the state department or something. it was fun to contemplate. and then on the way back shanti and liz did their best to bring up alternate uses for the poles... what a riot. i'm totally screwed work-wise. i've got to write a decent college essay (my earlier drafts were TERRIBLE), study up for that geosystems quiz tomorrow, do that calc homework i haven't touched since we got the new assignment sheet last week, pack so i'm all ready to catch our flight to nebraska tomorrow night, and make jenny and meg pack too. argh. meg has been so touchy lately - those pre-teen hormones of hers are working overtime... maybe i should start working... right. essay first, i guess... geo i can study for when i get to class... hehee
