25th year Celebrations. XD

So today is my birthday. Yay! Although to be fair most of the celebrating has already occurred. So to recap my awesomely awesome weekend.

Unfortunately, it didn't start off too awesome. I had made an appointment with Tanaka to dance on Saturday night, and afterwards he said he would take me out to dinner and we'd study English. During lunch on Saturday I noticed I'd received a text saying he had gotten sick and wanted to cancel the dance lesson but keep the English lesson. I said that was fine. A few hours later, as I was getting ready to leave (after rushing around madly to get ready) I got another text saying he wanted to cancel the English as well. As it turned out, this was a good thing.

When I arrived at my train station, I stopped by McDonalds because I really didn't want to cook. It was pouring rain due to the typhoon, and I just wanted to be home and eating. After I got my food, I went through my purse to find my key. And then went through it again. And then took everything out looking for the key, and searched my pockets. No luck. Then I remembered, my jump drive is attached to my key ring, and I'd used my jump drive at work. So my key was another 20 minute train ride and ten minute walk through the pouring rain away. So, back on the train I went, took a cab cause I didn't want to walk in the rain to work. When I sat down, the cab driver looked fairly grumpy. However as we neared the mall, she suddenly transformed into super friendly girl. And asked me if I was going to see a movie. Seeing as how we were nearly there, and the explanation was far too complex for the time I had, I lied. Yes, I was going to see a movie. With someone? by myself? With someone I replied. She kind of tittered then asked which movie I was seeing. A small bit of mild panic as I realized I had no idea what was even playing. So I said I didn't know, my friend was the one who was choosing the movie.

Walked back to the station, ran into a coworker which was nice, and then went home and got ready for the next day which was....

DISNEYLAND! And it was Costume Disneyland! Everyone was invited tocome dressed as Disney Characters and it was incredible. The costumes were simply amazing. We saw a ton of Alices, of course, but saw everyone from Mrs. Potts to Lumiere to Kusco to an incredible Beast, lots of Nightmare Before christmas characters, Tiana, Rapunzels, even Giselles (in the white poofy dress even!) I would have been just happy to take pictures of everyone all day. (And I did my fair share XD) I cannot wait for next year. I am so going to make an awesomely awesome costume.

We spent the day there, and I went home totally exhausted. Woke up early the next day for a hair appointment. Got my hair curled and styled by Maehara (who came on his day off. The sweetheart) Got dressed in my Sweet Loli outfit and went off to Shinjuku to meet up with Jen, Brandie, and Miranda. We had a minor adventure involving the wrong train station that was a bit out off in the country side, but after talking to a guy selliing pretty necklaces and the station master, and then a salary man about the correct kanji for the train station (and two high school girls coming up to us to tell us the guy told us the wrong pronunciation) we did find our way to the actual venue.

At least two girls during this trip told us we were cute in English which was very flattering. XD I did feel a bit like a giant cupcake. Though I think next time, I'd like to be totally gothed out.

So we went to the concert. My ears are still ringing, but I can see why my friends like these guys. The music is fantastic, and the guys are sexy goofballs. They were really really cute, and it was really enjoyable watching them. My only complaint is that depending on what's going on in the music, there are various types of dance moves one has to do. (Only involving your hands or headbanging) And because I was so busy trying to desperately trying to learn the dance moves (that are a mixture of Disney Princess, ParaparaParadise and Taibo.) I couldn't watch the band. Unless of course, they played a song that no one knew the moves too. During those songs, everyone in the audience stood completely still, eyes locked on the stage. Um... what? No one even bobbed their heads to the beat. This, plus what Tanaka has told me, leads me to believe that for the most part, people over here have absolutely no musicality. It's your favorite band, you're dressed AS the members of the band, they're playing a new song, and you stare at the stage without moving a muscle? What the heck, Japan?

Oh! And for the encore, the band does fling stuff out into the audience, waterbottles with guitar picks and such, one came near me, and although I did fight to the death for it - which I think was hysterically funny and slightly shocking afterwards, that I went berserk all for a water bottle of a band I'd never seen before - there was a janken battle (rock paper scissors) and unfortunately.. the bottle did not come with me.

(Somehow this reminds me of the Serenity screening we went to, where I went with people who dressed up as characters, I hadn't even seen Firefly, and I'm the one who won the tshirt and cap O.o; )

However, I had a great time! I can't wait to go again, or at least go to all night goth clubbing with Jen. Sounds like it'll be a blast!

All in all, a fantastic birthday!
