He twirled the flower between his fingers, staring at the almost pink petals as they spun before him. Water lilies had always been his flower of choice, they were different. Girls always fell for anything different, anything pretty that they thought he put effort into getting for them. He scoffed, tossing the flower back into the water. It didn't require any effort to pull a few flowers out of the water and put them into a flower bowl.
He sat on the end of the pier, one foot dangling over the edge. His beige khakis were rolled up to his knees, his white shirt hung unbuttoned from his shoulders. He brushed his wavy brown hair out of his eyes and sighed deeply. It was too easy, it was always too easy. He was twenty six and for the past twelve years he had been able to get anything he wanted just because he was 'hot'.
He didn't want another girl to fling herself at him because of his looks. He didn't want to have another discussion about how Brad and Angelina were like totally way cuter than Brad and Jen. He wanted substance. He wanted intelligence. He wanted something real.
