The Jim Beam Distillery! We weren't allowed to buy or sample anything, as it was Sunday and that county has some funny laws. But we could explore the property and buy some good barbeque sauces! We'll have to go back next year for sampling (that was such a great show circuit, how could we not go back?).
This is the first thing you see when you pull into the long driveway. They don't let you tour the big factory type buildings, but they are apparently working on renovating them and will allow tours by this time next year. In the meantime, there were lots of other things to see.
This is Booker Noe. He was the nephew of Jim Beam and brought the distillery back after prohibition. The distillery is still in the Beam family. Interestingly, all of those families are all very close. The master distillers over at Heaven Hill are Craig and Parker Beam. Colonel Beam was Bill Samuel Jr's (Maker's Mark) godfather. And apparently Bill Jr went to Vanderbilt and hung out with Jack Daniels. Anyways...

the family home
the cooperage (where barrels are made)
Each one of the distilleries had their own little firehouse. It seems that fire is a BIG issue in this type of work!
They also have their own post office on site.
There wasn't as much to learn from the Jim Beam Distillery, as they don't open up the old Beam house or run any tours on Sundays (probably due to the alcohol laws in the county). Hopefully we'll get more pics and fun information on our trip next year.
