Recording is fine until you have to sit there waiting for your turn to do something again. I have to have two or three notebooks with me to help pass the time with writings or whatever. Plus if you prop them up just right, they can make an effective Wall of Privacy against other waiting bandmates. What do you do in those inevitable lulls in the recording process?
