Double ep 2
So, due to lag last Saturday I didn't actually watch ALL of ep 2, and for one reason or another, I didn't rewatch till lunch today. At any rate, without the lag, I caught some stuff I missed. Most of it really doesn't change anything, except that shota!Shotaro (heh) was really cute, and... while cursing over the fact that lag was making me miss most of Kirihiko's naked scene, I also failed to notice the fact that when naked Kirihiko is led naked to stand naked before his future father in law, he's given... a belt for henshining. Did I mention he's naked in this scene? Because he is. Very naked.
Anyway, I guess that confirms that he's our second rider. And a villain rider at that. Consider my interest officially piqued.
The other thing, and the reason I hadn't really posted, because I didn't want to be needlessly negative, was that I found Akiko's shrieking REALLY REALLY annoying. I wanted to wait and see the full episode because maybe the lagging made me miss her being on screen NOT shrieking like a banshee, but nope.
I'm not going to officially say I hate her character or anything, but if this episode is anything to go by she's going to wear out her welcome REAL fast with me. (For the record, I liked her fine on ep 1 when she was whacking Shotaro on the head with a shoe... I have no problem with her being pushy or peppy, I don't think, I just have a problem with the shrieking).
Phillip continues to be utterly adorable and unusual. I love how he has no filter and says the truth as he sees it as it pops in his head... all with that hide grin and his eyes wide open like some kid at an amusement park.
Which brings me to Shotaro hitting him and storming off. Which I liked, it was interesting. It was also resolved really quickly, but we'll see if there's repeats. Mostly it all serves to convince me more and more that Shotaro and Phillip's relationship is essentially brotherly in nature (er... but not in a Hoppers brothers sort of way).
Anyway, I love both Phillip and Shotaro so far, I think the series is SHINNY and awesome and very enjoyable, but I admit I'm a little disappointed to have been so turned off by Akiko this episode, since I'd liked the trio's dynamic a lot the first ep. I also feel really really bad saying anything negative about Akiko because of reasons of a 2chany nature, but there you go.
Overall, really enjoyed the ep, save for that one thing.
