How the time flies... it's already almost the end of January and it seems like the year just started.
Friday went really well. I was amazed at how interested the students were to hear about adoption. Lori did a brief intro and after that I just went into telling my story. They asked a lot of questions and were all paying attention the whole time. They also tried to word their questions in a good way, since Lori had told them to pay attention to the terms we use, for example, we never use the term "give up". It was adorable, cause we could see them thinking about how to say things. I talked right up until the end of the class and then a couple of girls stuck around to ask more questions after the bell rang. So cool. I love doing that kind of stuff. Its so thereputic for me to talk to people about it. Especially when talking to them about it could help them. None of the kids were pregnant that the teacher knew of, but you never know. I think we helped them to see what adoption is like now and that it is a viable option. That was the main point.
The whole day friday was so busy. I woke up, hung out with Heather, Rea, and Mark while Heather and Rea made breakfast. Then, ate and left. After the class, I stopped by the smoke shop to see if Sarah was working. I ended up spending hours there talking with people. I finally got to see Sarah's boss, Kat, who was a good friend of mine most of my life and I haven't seen in years! I also chatted with both Sarah's mom and a guy I went to elementry school with and haven't seen since ninth grade. He asked me if I had spent time in California... aparently I have a bit of an accent and he thought it sounded Californian or something. Weird. By the time I got to my parents' house, I had half an hour before I needed to leave town. Mom wanted to take me out to eat, so we ran to subway, since we didn't have time for real food. Ate quick, then headed home. That night, I went to see Cannibal again with Timmy. Jenni and Lizzery were going to be there, but aparently they didn't preorder tickets like I thought they had. (I totally would have warned you guys to do so if I had thought about it.) Good times! The show was just as good seeing it for a second time. After I got home, I decided I felt like going out to see the Colonial Bhoys, so I went out to O'Donovan's. It was a very full day, but lots of fun.
Saturday I worked. It seemed to be "Let's see how many times Ris can hurt herself day". By the time I went home, I had a bandaid on one thumb, the other wrapped in gauze, and two pinched fingers. Then I got home and stubbed my toe. No serious injuries, but damn annoying. The worst one was my right thumb, which I hurt by being nice to Mel. Next time, I'm just gonna hit her. I was trying to grab the phone, but stay out of her way, since the phone was right next to her. So, when she moved, I moved my hand real quick and slammed the phone against the side of the counter with my thumb inbetween. It was all swollen and black and blue and stuff... it sucked. That's what I get for being nice to the bitch.
Today, I worked... nothing exciting. Matthew came to visit though. That was cool. I love having visitors at work. It makes the day go by faster.
