Sayings of the Shrub

After the idiocy of the church membership list thing, I went looking for Dubya quotes.

People, this man is stupid. And it can't all be blamed on his scriptwriters, because if it were up to them, then I think that some glimmer of intelligence would show up.

Instead, he tosses off lines like this:

"My most important job is to defend the homeland, to protect innocent Americans from the deaths of the killers."

Because innocent Americans are invariably harmed when killers die.

"The hemisphere is in our interest to have a peaceful Colombia."

Well, I'm glad that the hemisphere is in our interest and no one else's. But how is the hemisphere to have a Colombia, peaceful or not?

"I am a person who recognizes the fallacy of humans."

FALLACY: A false or mistaken idea; an often plausible argument using false or invalid inference.

I'm so glad that Dubya recognises that humans are a false or mistaken idea. Or at least that HE is.

"Over 50 percent of our energy comes from overseas. Fortunately, a lot of it comes from Canada."

I see that Dubya is continuing in the great geographic tradition of Reagan, who reportedly called up the Secretary of State during his first term to ask, "Where's Australia?"

"Laura and I really don't realize how bright our children is sometimes until we get an objective analysis."

Yes, your children is very bright. They am the brightest children on the face of this planet. Why, each child are almost as bright as you is.

"My mom often used to say, 'The trouble with W' -- although she didn't put that to words."

Let us give the Nobel Prize in Science to this woman who has managed to speak an existing language without using words.

"This doesn't have nothing to do with reputation."

Talk about sounding ignorant! And, as my English teacher would say, a double negative creates a positive. So you're really saying, Dubya, "This has everything to do with reputation."

"We're in for a long struggle, and I think Texans understand that. And so do Americans."

Only in your mind, Dubya, are Texans completely separate from Americans.

"I come from a different generation from my dad."

Which makes Dubya unique. Most people come from the same generation as their parents, what with cloning and all.

"The benefits of helping somebody is beneficial."

Wait! That wasn't quite clear enough! You mean that acting beneficially and in a beneficent manner can have beneficial benefits?

"There's always a difference of opinion sometimes between the House and the Senate."

As my Uncle Sebastiano would have said, "Always or sometimes? Make up-a you mind!"

"I reconciled my love for my dad a long time ago."

I have obviously read too much slash.

And Dubya? RECONCILE--to restore to friendship or harmony; to make consistent or congruous; to cause to submit to or accept something unpleasant.

So you restored the love for your father to friendship, you made the love for your father consistent, or you accepted your love for your father as something unpleasant.

To quote Inigo Montoya--"I do not think that word means what you think it means."

"Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better."

Some things just snark at themselves. This is one of them.

"God loves you, and I love you. And you can count on both of us as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear."

I'm not interested in being loved by deities or by politicians. Both are far too unreliable. And if you are a message about my future, I want to dump you in the Dead Letter Office.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this country cannot achieve any objective we put our mind to."

Damned straight! This country can't achieve any of its goals at all, and it's time we admitted that!

"Dr. [Raja] Khuzai also was there to have Thanksgiving dinner with our troops. And it turned out to be me, as well."

How appropriate that Dubya turned out to be Thanksgiving dinner. After all, he IS a turkey.
