vixenette provided the challenge: "A Regulus/Remus story (because there can never be too many)."
Pairings: Regulus/Remus, unrequited Remus/Sirius
Warnings: Slash. Nothing explicit, though.
Rating: PG, because it deals with slash relationships, but really, this is as gen as slash can get.
Summary: "Remus does not, of course, love him. Regulus knows that he

Thank you!
"Incurably heterosexual" is just priceless.
::grin:: I'm glad you liked it. "Incurably heterosexual" is a line a gay male friend of mine from high school used to use. It just slipped into the fic.
I love Regulus's thoughts on love and the way, in the end, his feelings contradict them.
Poor Reg. He loves so deeply that he's willing to die to keep Remus safe, and yet he can't admit to himself that he loves at all.

That does seem like a very Regulus thing to do.

That's really sad. As much I love Remus, I wanted to tell him, " really LOOK at Regulus"...as surely Remus would know the hardness of unrequited love ( though Regulus didn't admit to himself that it IS love, which is another sad part of this story.) And we know that Regulus would be killed soon... The last line made my heart ache for Regulus.
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing. I'd like to see more of this paring.

You likely will. vixenette's gotten me interested in this pairing of late.

I'm not sure if Regulus is in denial that this is love, or if he has so little experience loving and being loved that he just doesn't recognise love when he feels it. Possibly a combination (though he's close to admitting the truth to himself at the end).
And yes, I really wanted to give Remus a good shaking as well.
And we know that Regulus would be killed soon...
At the age of no more than twenty. And Remus will never know why Regulus died. Or for whom.
The last line made my heart ache for Regulus.
Mine too. He was pretty calm throughout the story, accepting that this was the way things had to be...but that was the moment when he really lowered his guard.
Beautifully done. Thank you for ( ... )

I've said before and I'll say it again, Poor Regulus. I wanted to slap Lupin for playing games with Reg. But Reg was just as guilty as Lupin, he could have ended their affair at anytime. Then again, Reg was so head over heels( which the poor thing seemed to be in complete denial over) he probably wouldn't have been able to end it.
There is so much I liked about this that my feeble comments don't do justice to how good your fic is. I really, really liked this.
I'm still surprised that there aren't more Reg/Lupin fics; the pairing seems like a more logical pairing for "Remus tries to exorcise his feelings/attraction for Sirius by fucking someone who vaguely reminds him of Sirius" fics.

I think that Reg had decided that half a love--or even a quarter--was better than nothing...and at least it kept Remus in his life. And yes, I do think he was either in denial of his love for Remus or (which is sadder) that he genuinely didn't know how to recognise love. The latter would be completely possible, given his parents.

I'm rather surprised too, now that you mention it.

Wow. I loved that - this Regulus I LIKE. I can believe in this Regulus, sadly. He's torn in his indecision, he wants to run but can't for a man who doesn't love him and who he thinks he doesn't love. Oh, this was sadly beautiful and I loved every word.
Great, great job, Gehayi. Thanks for doing the challenge justice! :D

Thank you VERY much. I was hoping you'd like it, since it was written for your challenge.
Hmmm...this is another four in the morning story. I definitely seem to do better in the wee small hours of the night.
