Does anyone know of any good carpenters in Connecticut? Because I have to say that I am not finding them, and I am still trying desperately to get my roof repaired before it snows. Which, in Connecticut, could be as early as October, so I do not have much time left to get the repairs done. I’ve been trying since APRIL.
Seriously, folks, I need suggestions. One company tried twice and only made the leaks infinitely worse. One said that it wasn't a job he could handle (which is unfortunate, as this is the one company that I know from previous encounters, and they’re capable). One charged close to three hundred dollars for an estimate and then said he couldn't handle it. One said that he could do the job for about three hundred, but he hasn't sent a written estimate and won't give me a definite date that he'll do the work, so fuck him.
That’s four companies and a thousand dollars worth of nothing--a thousand dollars that I could not afford to spend. I need the roof repaired, I need it to be affordable, and I need it NOW.
I've also called the woman who is in charge of Housing Rehab in my town, which is affiliated with Housing and Urban Development. The problem is that she is never there. I've been calling and leaving messages for four weeks and she never answers. According to people elsewhere in Town Hall, she has not quit and does, in fact, still work there. So I don't know what's going on.
ETA: (8/28/2015) I found out what was wrong! She was out for a few weeks having and recovering from shoulder surgery. And thanks to budget cuts, the Housing Rehab office has been reduced to, well, her.
I've been trying so hard for so long, and I'm not getting any help on this.
I would really, REALLY like to have the roof repaired before it caves in under the weight of winter snow.
HELP.
