PBS and NPR

You know, there are a lot of excellent programs on public television and national public radio.

I could list all of them as sterling reasons for supporting PBS and NPR in the face of threatened cuts to funding. But this is about more than Masterpiece, Masterpiece Mystery, NOVA, PBS NewsHour, Antiques Roadshow, American Experience, American Masters, Next Avenue, This Old House, Frontline, The Electric Company, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Nature, NOVA ScienceNOW, Independent Lens and Idea Channel. This is about more than TV shows that routinely entertain and educate the young or about shows that explain science and history to the layperson. This goes not only to nostalgia but to childhood itself.

There's someone here who would like to explain just how important this funding is. I urge you to listen to him, though he's very sad these days. He's so blue.

Please. Help the blue Bird get back to Sesame Street. And if you can't help...could you please boost the signal?

Yes, he's really supposed to be six.
