Not a lot has been happening so far, which is good. I am very much in favor of not much happening because I don't need bad stuff going on.
Games are getting harder to play on my computer because my video card dates back to 2006 and designers of computer games are all about requiring more modern cards. As I know of no way to replace the card, I'm rather stuck. I'll check with my computer guy and see if a replacement can be made for a reasonable price.
And it will have to be a VERY reasonable price, as I have to waste money on taxes this month. I will also have to pay MORE taxes this month than I have in previous years, because--horrors!--I'm earning so little money editing that even SSDI isn't interested. I think that I could afford to live in this house if I didn't have to pay property taxes. As it is...no.
The left leg, which blew up due to a msssive infection, four days' power loss during the hurricane and nine days' power loss during the Octoberstorm, is starting to get a bit softer and go down. It still needs massage treatments and to go down at least three sizes but it is a little less huge than it has been for the past two months.
The three things I am doing the most of--and they comprise a three-way tie for first place--are sporking, editing and writing. I've also gotten hooked on Blip.tv and Rifftrax, and am reading P.D. James and (so far) the first of the Temeraire books. I'm also going to try The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen and see if that's any good.
And, in Echo Bazaar, my character has recently returned from the Lovecraftian realms of Flute Street and is now alternating between the spycraft capital of Wilmot's End and explorations and scientific expeditions on the Broad Unterzee beyond Fallen London (Mutton Island, Hunter's Keep, Bullbone Island and Corpsecage Island, to date). I hope that the Iron Republic opens soon in EB; my character is currently stalled in the pursuit of her ambition, which is finding the nemesis who murdered her brother. (I have decided that he was her older brother and his name was Miles. Although I can't officially call her anything but my Facebook name, I think of her as Charlotte.) The next step in her journey is the Iron Republic, a territory of Hell. NOT a good place for anyone, and especially not her--she's a Shepherd of Souls, a member of an underground organization that specializes in returning souls to those who have lost them. And of course I'm going to send her there as soon as it opens, because I want to know what happens next.
And...that's about it. Back to my writing.
