I hadn't had a chance to read the previous post until now, but I'm very glad that things turned out the way they did for you, even if I'm really sorry that he was such a dick to you.

Oh, I hope so too.

This is the first time I've ever complained to a hospital about a doctor. And I was so unsure I had to ask the woman if this was going to cause trouble, because I love the Wound Center; I get good care there and the nurses are wonderful--it's just, y'know, THIS guy.

She felt I had good grounds for complaint and didn't feel that it would be a problem at all. So...phew.

Considering that he was going to order a very expensive test on you without bothering to check your chart or even physically examine your leg, I'm thinking this would be grounds for a medical malpractice suit? Or, hell, he could get more than a slap on the wrist for pulling this shit, because if the procedure he had ordered for you could've done something that left you worse off than you were before, that would've put him in serious shit (and it would've left you in a worse position).

I don't think that an ultrasound of your veins can hurt you. I've had ultrasounds before. They just slap cold jelly on the area they're going to be testing and then run a camera over it. I don't actually mind having one. I just don't think I NEED one and don't want to pay for something I don't need.

But you're right. Potentially that kind of behavior could be grounds for malpractice. This test wasn't dangerous--but another might be. (Such as the time he recommended that I get surgery to reduce the size of my legs. Which would further damage my lymphatic system.)

Oops. Yeah, I had no idea what this test entailed, but yes! Another procedure might be invasive, costly, and dangerous, so this douche should totally get what's coming to him before he potentially hurt someone in a way that can't be fixed.
