Warning

I won't be around for the rest of the night--and into tomorrow as well--because the computer has been infected with the AV Security Virus malware. This happened when I was looking at ariastar's Dreamwidth journal, so if any of you have her on your f-list, be aware that malware has attached itself to one of the links in her recent post. I think that I would like to consign them to the level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

So frustrating! One good thing about living in Australia is that we rarely get hit with the first wave of malware - Europe or North America get it first, and by the time we're awake the anti-virus updates are in.

That sounds terrible! How can you tell if you're computer's infected? Mine's been acting strange lately. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with an e-mail that I received from a friend whose computer was hijacked somehow...they got in his contact list and sent an e-mail advertisement to everyone on his list. I think it was for an online pharmacy.

Anyhow, I hope it gets fixed!

Well, in this case, it's really easy to tell, because a green shield pops up in the lower right hand corner of your screen (where all the icons for commonly used programs are) telling you that your computer is infected, and do you want to download AV Security Systems now?

Oh, and if you have anti-virus and/or anti-malware programs on your computer? It turns them right off. And you can't reactivate them. In fact, it'll turn off every program you have and render your computer useless.

AV Security malware is fucking viciousIf you think that your computer might be infected, and if your anti-virus software is still working, then update the anti-virus program and then run a full scan of your system. And I can point you in the direction of my computer guy if you have any questions about really ( ... )
