From daegaer: The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character (from one of my usual fandoms). Original fic is also allowed--you can toss names, photos, descriptions of personalities at me--with the provision that none of the characters be from any works in progress. In return, those ten people have to post ( Read more... )

In terms of a fic, Harry Potter, or an origific would be awesome.

I like things with inherent powers, like telepathy, empathy...things that just happen, like the five "real" senses.

Okay. I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but...here's the start of a story about telepaths.

Let me just get this over with right now. I'm a telepath. And I bet I know what you're going to say next.

Oh, not because I'm reading your mind. It's just people have two basic reactions to telepathy, and I've been seeing both of them for about seventeen years or so. The first reaction is a cringe and a backstep, followed by a sidelong glance that says: Is she reading my mind now? What does she know about me? Does she know everything? That was about the point that governments across the world woke up and realized how much power a telepath could have if he or she got into politics or finance. Each reacted differently. My country set up a registry. If you want to be a telepath these days-and really, wanting doesn't come into it for us, it's just what we are-you have to register and get a license and a chip. I'm in the eighteen and under category, so my license-which I have to wear around my neck at all times, even when I sleep-- is bright red. Adult telepaths get bright blue licenses; adult telepaths with precog get licenses with black and pale blue stripes. Empaths get licenses that are pale blue with gold stripes. And so on. You get the idea. Supposedly TKs have licenses that are the bright orange and dead black of radiation warnings, but I've never seen one. Either a TK license or a TK, I mean ( ... )
