Name one character from any fandom I know and I will give you three facts about them from my personal canon.
The canons that I know would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Lord of the Rings,
Highlander, Doctor Who and, of course, Harry Potter. (I'll omit Star Wars because I don't really have personal canon for that, and A Song

Unfortunately, it suited Dumbledore much better to have Harry stay where he was (even though just residing with the Dursleys for two weeks out of the year would confer protection), rather than putting him in with some of the more remote cousins on Harry's father's side, like the Weasleys or Andromeda and her husband. Overnight, all the records and papers vanished, thanks to the remnants of the Order, and all those who had been involved in trying to get Harry some help were Obliviated.
Little Harry never knew why everyone was so eager to help him and then forgot about it. It was just one more betrayal from the Muggle world, as far as he was concerned.
ii) Harry never read or heard fairy tales growing up. For that matter, Dudley didn't either. The elder Dursleys didn't want such stories giving Harry ideas, or damaging their son. Instead, Dudley was told stories about aliens, historical events and--when he got older--man-made monsters like Frankenstein. There was never a drop of fantasy in the house. What few things Harry had picked up by the time that he was eleven (wizards, giants, magic, etc.), he'd learned about from kids on the playground.
Harry now thinks he's far too old for such things...which is a pity, as a lot of fairy tales are actual magical history in the Potterverse...just twisted a little. It could help him.
iii) Harry is not going to grow up to be an Auror--he hasn't the patience for it, nor the willingness to obey those in a position of authority, nor the required Potions know-how, since he cheated his way through sixth year. And his recklessness would get his teammates killed. Assuming that he survives the confrontation with Voldemort, he will go on to play professional Quidditch.
