I hate my computer SO. VERY. MUCH.
I was writing the sixth chapter of my book today--and making good progress!--when Word, as it so often does, decided to start freezing. So I did what I usually do. I saved the work, and then tried to open it again.
Usually that works. Today--no. No, today, just because I was inspired, it wouldn't open the file with my novel on it. And it wouldn't and it wouldn't and it wouldn't.
I've rebooted three times, and checked every fucking wire, and made sure they're all tight and fully functional.
Nothing.
I am now stuck with five chapters of a novel and part of a sixth that I can't access.
And from the look of things, I'm never going to be able to access it again. Because I've seen this computer pull this kind of crap before.
And I don't know how to fix it.
Excuse me. I'm going to go off in a corner and cry now.
ETA: Somehow, Word managed to overcome file corruption and open the file, albeit without formatting. The document, including Chapter 6, has now been saved to three different places. I hope that will be enough.
Geez, universe. Don't SCARE me like that.
