Well. This is...odd.
I just found out that a site called
http://www.fanrus.com is translating Lionheart into Russian. This would ordinarily have me over the moon...
Except no one asked me for permission. And the site isn't linking back to my LJ.
I don't really know how to feel about this. I would have given permission, had they asked me, and quite happily. Now I feel ambivalent.
And apparently, there is a long, long list of authors the site has translated or is translating.
asahii has mentioned this, and
underlucius has as well. Some writers have posted on
underlucius's LJ as having been contacted by the site and asked for permission. Others, like myself, were never contacted at all.
Here are the lists:
Page 1 Page 2 ETA:
asahii says that the second page seems to be a list of fics that already have been translated.
As near as I can discover, the e-mail for the site is fanrus@fanrus.com. (It's a bit hard to figure out contact information when 95% of the site is in Russian and you don't speak the language.) Also, some of the translators have links to their e-mail addresses.
You might also check the forums
here.
That's where the translators claim stories--and they mention their e-mails.
I really don't know why so many of the translators simply aren't asking in the first place.

here with a clear and lucid explanation about Fanrus, the tables I linked to, and the site's policies. It looks like what we have here is simply a misunderstanding.
