Well< at least for 3 of the grand kids.
Elayna and Noah are back on the same team this year; and while Elayna
didn't manage to score from any of Noah's great crosses (she played defense
for most of the game) Noah ended up with two assists as they won 2-1.

Actually the game was pretty lopsided. The goalie only touched the ball twice, and only had to make one save. The other team's goal came off an accidental hand ball in the box.

Gabe's game...well best described behind a cut...

So, this year Brian is coaching and the first game started well, especially as poor a group of players Brian said they had. (there are 4 that qualify as mediocre) Gabe made 2 really good saves at goal, and their team scored first. It went down hill from there. The other team scored 3 quick goals. (only one could really be faulted to Gabe).
I'm not sure what happened to the talent pool for this league, but there are only three teams in the upper division this year and apparently there are no more than a total of 3 stand out players. I'm kinda wondering where Grace Brethren will draw from next year.

That brings us to Becca, she is not sure she wants to move up to varsity. She is worried she won't be a starter, and playing JV she would play every minute of every game. Part of the problem that she won't work on conditioning, which is why she likes being a defender.
Honestly both her mother and I agree we'd rather watch her play than sit on the bench; which is what she did thru the championships last year. We will find out more once actual practices start, since most of the returning starters are still playing club ball.
