It's that most wonderful time of the semester! Here's my usual quick and dirty look at the characters under my control for Summer I 2011, starting as always with the brand new shiny one Those Most Important Notes To Read If You Read Anything At All notes are in bold for tl;dr-ish-ness ahead.
Leopold "Butters" Stotch (geewhizfellas)

Butters (yes, even his parents call him that) is from the small podunk town of South Park, Colorado, a place where so much absurdity occurs on a regular basis that Fandom Island may at times seem almost boring...which will be a very blessed relief. He is (usually) incredibly sweet and innocent, almost in direct contrast to the constant abuse he is put through. Not only does he have extremely strict parents prone to hysteria, but he also has a friend who usually don't think twice about picking Butters to do their more embarrassing, disgusting, or depraved whims. If your character is one to enjoy having a whipping boy, I fully encourage you to take advantage of Butters. While he does have a breaking point, it takes an awful lot to get him to that point, and it's just Butters' lot in life to be shit on. He loves to sing and dance, though he won't tap dance. Not anymore. Not after killing eight people with his tap dancing. Twice.
An all-around, honest-to-goodness, aw-shucks sort of fella...who has been through some seriously [BEEP]ed up shit.
Chrono(timedemon)

Chrono is a demon with a lot of history, including a history with the island. You should ask Deadpool about it sometime. Basically, he's spend a lot of time on earth after his brother, Aion, lead a rag-tag group of demons in a rebellion in an attempt to destroy Hell. That didn't work out so well for them, so Aion set his sights on destroying existance as we know it. Thankfully, Chrono, with the help of a scrappy little nun named Rosette, who did some missionary work at Our Lady of Fandom ages ago, and a few other rag-tag reincarnations of Apostles put a stop to all that, but, of course, now Chrono is stuck in a sort of immortal nexus with a screwy sense of time. His powers derive from his horns, which have been remove and reside in a box. He has major issues with using his powers, considering his horns were once used by Rosette's brother, who was then manipulated by Aion to help with the whole ending existance thing and twice now, he's made contracts with cute little blondes to use their lifeforce to fuel his power. As a demon, he can usually notice other supernatural entities and other supernatural entities should be able to notice him. The wings and pointed ears are also a pretty good non-human indicator. Particularly powerful entities might also be able to tell that he's basically neutered, power-wise, unless he gets his horns out. Then shit will hit the fan.
Mostly, he just wants to pass some of his endless existance in quiet respite here on the island where he used to mess around with Satan and piss off grown men in red pajamas. Is that too much to ask?

Bright, excitable, and talkative, Jane Porter is an adventerous young woman who tries her best to be a proper Victorian lady, but finds it quite difficult some times. She has been raised a little bit outside of the box...or even out of the country, for that matter; through the influences of her primatologist father, Jane has spent a great deal of time on the field in Africa, observing and studying primates in their natural habitats, especially gorillas. Jane is never afraid of hard work, and she quite expects human beings to be civilized creatures, but her studying has taught her to expect the apes to do it better more often than not. She's quite bookish when she's not out on the field and when she is on the field, her nose is still probably in a journal as she tries to write all her observations and sketch her surroundings as quick as she can. A bit of an artist, she considers herself quite good at chronicalling and could go on some very epic babbles about science, especially biology and evolution, because that Charles Darwin, oh, she'd love to meet that man and shake his hand! She has a bit of a soft spot for a certain unkempt roguishness in a man and has perhaps a bit of a romantic side that she'd rather not mention...but she probably will discuss those inclinations without even realizing it.
A fun-loving, adventurous young woman, certainly not afraid of a little monkey business...in the proper context, of course.
Princess Ariel of Atlantica, (shes_got_legs)

Ariel was a mermaid obsessed with all things human, and so, after a particularly traumatic encounter with her father who hates all things human, she decided to make a deal with a sea witch to get legs and come up on shore, where she started to attend Fandom High School. She has never regretted it since, and has discovered the world of humans to be so much more than she ever expected. Extremely bright and effervescent, adventurous and eager, Ariel is also a little bit of a kleptomaniac and a little bit of a hoarder; she adores going treasure hunting and has filled her room with a varied collection of many of the things she's gathered through a year of being human (the pride and joy of her collection is currently a steering column from an airplane; thanks, Bruce Wayne!). She carefully guards the fact that she's a mermaid and only a few people know, but if your character can sense non-humans or magical enchantments, feel free to notice! She loves to dance and she loves shoes, but most of all, she loves her friends, having fun, and making sure her friends have fun.

Prince Alexander of Daventry has actually only known himself as such for a few years now; up until then, he was actually just Gwydion, a lowly slave in the house of an evil magician by the name of Manannan. Manannan had a bad habit of kidnapping young boys, enslaving them, and then killing them off when they turned a certain age, but then he made the mistake of kidnapping the son of King Graham of Daventry, who would then grow up to escape and realize his true identity by turning his former master into a cat and fleeing. Since then, Manannan's brother Mordack had tried to seek revenge on Alexander by kidnapping Daventry Castle and the family inside of it, and it was there that Alexander met Cassima, a princess from a far off land who had been enslaved by Mordack (noticing a trend here?) because she refused to marry him. Alexander fell instantly in love, but as soon as things were sorted out, Cassima returned to her land and Alexander, lovestruck, has not heard from her since. Concerned about her son, Alexander's mother sent him to Fandom High to learn to socialize (since being enslaved by an evil magician is really not the best upbringing) and hopefully to get his mind off Cassima. Of course, this didn't work very well, and he is constantly hoping to discover some clue to finding her in the Land of the Green Isles. Alexander is a wizard, and a fairly powerful one at that, though he does not particularly like this aspect of himself. However, your characters are free to pick up on his magical abilities if you're inclined that way. He's mostly private, though polite; his harsh upbringing as a slave has impacted him profoundly, and sometimes he slips back into being more of a servant than a prince.
Romantic, resourceful, and strong of both body and heart, a magical prince with his eye on a prize.
Captain Shunsui Kyōraku, (sake_shinigami)

Shunsui lives for three things: sake, women, and more women. A lazy pacifist with a penchant for poetry and an extreme appreciation of beauty, he came to Fandom Island to escape a building war back in the Soul Society, his world's version of the afterlife, where he is a captain in a division of the heirarchy of Shinigami, Death Gods or Soul Reapers who help protect souls from soul-eating monsters called Hollows. His speech is so flowery that it's littered with hearts, and he has a great appreciation for women. If you are female and over the age of 20, he will hit on you. If you are female and under the age of 20, he will still shower you with affection, but it will be more of an encouraging sort rather than a trying-to-bed-you sort. He is also a terrible, shameless drunk and will likely offer to have you drink with him. On either account, the sake or the sexing, he's used to people refusing him, but he does so love it when they don't ♥! Despite his lazy, aloof manner, Shunsui is actually incredibly power. He is a Soul, meaning he is dead, and as a Shinigami, he has a great deal of power and spiritual energy. Feel free to notice; he will also notice yours if you have some, but he is not likely to say anything except perhaps in suggestive passing. Please let me know if there should be any exceptions/considerations for this!!!
