Why are people so invariably drawn to big red buttons? This question has always puzzled me, because in my experience, even if everyone knows that hitting the button is a bad idea, someone will invariably walk up and press it without thinking twice. This action generally leads to much confusion and sometimes panic (fire alarm buttons for instance), and rarely does anything good come of it. Red is naturally a cautionary color everywhere in nature. What makes people throw this caution to the wind, and hit the button?
Observations like this always remind me that despite being human, I will never really understand what drives people to act the way they do.
