Work Happenings

Recently the program manager of our Transitional Living program was transferred to the Sexually Maladaptive Youth program (my former work-home). As I was already familiar with the people there, as well as the program itself, he asked me if I would give him a hand with his first schedule for the direct care staff their. Being the kind, caring soul that I am I went above and beyond - I just made the whole damn thing for him. Needless to say he was singing my praises. It was nice.

Too nice. I think he must have sung too loudly - I've now found myself with a much more daunting task. Since I did *so* well scheduling that program, the higher-ups have decided to make it my job to schedule THE ENTIRE CAMPUS from this point on. That's right - 70+ employees, spread over three shifts. I am now responsible for making sure that our campus has adequate staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This also includes the schedules for my fellow supervisors and myself. Oh, and I also get to manage all requests for personal days and vacations. Nice.

I came home tonight and got started on the project. I've worked on it from 15:30 on, taking only one break for dinner. It's now 23:30, and I'm still not even close to done. I've got to get some sleep, though.

On the upside - the boss says I deserve a regular bonus for doing this. I agree. He's working on it as I type. :-)
