Police investigate severe beating of Earlham student
Police are investigating the severe beating of an Earlham College student.
Joseph Augustin, 24, was battered with a large rock late Monday night, according to police reports.
Anonymous donor offers reward in case of beaten Earlham student
The Richmond Police Department announced thismorning that an anonymous donor has established a reward of $2,500 forinformation leading to the arrest and conviction of individualsinvolved in the beating Monday night of an Earlham College student.
Joseph Augustin, 24, was severely beaten after leaving the Richmond CivicTheater where he was participating in rehearsal for the production of "The Laramie Project," a play about a young University of Wyoming student who was brutally beaten to death several years ago.
Augustin remained this morning in an Indianapolis hospital, recovering from head injuries suffered in the attack, which occurred on the National Road West bridge. His condition is only being shared with family members because the incident still is under investigation, officials said.
A backpack containing a Dell laptop computer was stolen during the attack, police said.
