So the bad news came back today that Dudley does have a severely hyperactive thyroid. So we started drugs today - that makes two out of three kitties in the house on daily meds now. From here, we do 1 pill a day for 10 days, then 2 pills a day for 10 days, then back to the vet for blood work, then most likely 1-2 pills a day forever after that. That's if the pills work and if he doesn't have a bad reaction to them or anything. The vet mentioned that there's an alternative to the pills in the form of a one-time $1,000+ shot given by a specialized vet in the region... So, we'll see. If you've ever met Dud Dud you'd know he's well worth the hassle of daily pills or the cost of the shot, so really whatever seems better for him is what we'll go with. I hate my Duddy being sick! )c: I do love our vets though. They are actually like a mile from our old place - which makes them much much farther from where we are now - but I trust them so much and they remember all the ins and outs of both Dudley's and Kitten's complicated medical histories, so they are worth the longer drive! I wish I liked any of MY doctors half as much as I like them.
And I was going to add a note about Sammy being the healthy one, but when we got back from the phillies game tonight (yay first game of the season!) there were huge piles of kitty vomit and poop and it seems like she's sick. So, poor kitties in general.
On the positive side, we did have a great time at the phillies game tonight. And the vet says that of all things that can cause dramatic weight loss, this is at least a treatable one for the Dudder. Fingers crossed!
