Dear Yuletide Writer,
First of all, thank you so much for writing fic for me. I'm sure I'm going to love whatever you write, and I hope you have fun with it. I don't know how much or little detail you're going to want from me, so I'm gonna try to put a few ideas out there for each of my requests. I'm totally not married to anything I suggest, take or leave what you will. I've also tried to outline a few general things below, to give you a better idea of what kind of fic I like.
So, general things. I ship all of the pairings I requested, and as such would love to read ship fic, but if you're not really a shipper, no worries; I like gen, too. I adore happy endings and tend to like types of fic that would generally end happily (fluff, humor, crack, etc.). I don't mind some angst if it's resolved by the end, but I'd prefer not to have anything too dark. I'm pretty easy on the rating scale; I'll happily read anything from the fluffiest gen fic to PWP, so go wherever you want with it. And with that, on to my requests!
Chrono Cross
Glenn, Karsh
Alright, first up is Chrono Cross, which is pretty much one of my favorite video games ever. It's got such an interesting premise to it, and there are just so many ways things can play out with the whole alternate universe thing. Especially considering that often times characters from one universe are dead in the other, which I would think would lead to interesting situations when they met people they knew in the other universe.
So anyway, I'm requesting Glenn and Karsh, who...didn't really interact much in the game, but have an interesting and intertwined backstory nonetheless. Most of their interactions tend to revolve around Dario, and I guess what I'd really like to see is something about how the two of them relate to each other.
What were they like as kids? Were they friends, enemies, tolerated acquaintances? We only got a very brief look at their childhood, and I'd love to see something about that. Or, if you're looking for something more within the frame of the game, how does Glenn react to finding out that Karsh didn't kill Dario after all, and what does that mean for them? We're never really told whether Glenn believes that Karsh killed Dario or not, and so don't really know whether they'd been on good terms after Dario died or not.
Or maybe something about what happens to them after the end of the game. It's never made really clear what happens to most of the characters once it's over, and it's sort of implied that no one but Serge even remembers the events of the game, and I've always kind of wondered about that. Do they remember what happened? Where do they end up, and what are they doing? Hell, if you're a fan of one of the endings from defeating the Time Devourer earlier in the game, what happens to them there?
Also, feel free to include any other characters from the game; there's a lot of ground that can be explored with them, too.
Forever (TV)
Henry Morgan, Lucas Wahl
So, Forever. I wasn't sure I was going to like the show when it first started, but turns out I like it more with each new episode. And that's mostly down to Henry and his struggle to make connections with people, knowing as he does that they're going to grow old and die while he keeps living.
We've only gotten bits and pieces of Henry's past so far, but it seems that with a couple of exceptions, he's tried to keep from getting close to people, at least until now. I'd love to know why that's changing. I specifically requested Lucas here, because their relationship is kind of odd. It seems pretty clear that Lucas would like them to be friends, and even though Henry seems to protest that, he still remembers all kinds of things about Lucas, and neither of them seems to realize this.
As for things I'd like to see, them working cases together is always awesome. Any kind of situation that brings them closer together, especially if they're doing something relatively normal. Henry doesn't seem to do very much other than work, so I'd love to see what it would be like if they just hung out. Or really, I'd love to see Lucas' reaction if he found out Henry was effectively immortal. I'm also keeping up with the new episodes, too, so feel free to use anything from them. Honestly, I'd be happy with pretty much anything, seeing as there is no fic at all.
Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins
Fred Jones, Shaggy
Ok, so I specifically went with The Mystery Begins to make sure I was specifying which set of characters I was looking for (because if you just do movies in general, that includes the Freddie Prinze Jr. ones, which I've never seen), so if you want to incorporate the events of Curse of the Lake Monster, that's totally fine with me; I saw it and loved it.
Anyway, I really love the movie's take on how the gang got together and started solving mysteries, and how they sort of fell into friendship through it. I'd love to see anything about them becoming closer friends (not just Fred and Shaggy, but Daphne, Velma, and Scooby Doo, too) or what they do when they're not out solving mysteries. Them solving another mystery is always good; maybe Fred and Shaggy have to solve a mystery on their own because the girls aren't around? I'd really just love to see anything for this fandom because there's very little fic out there.
Weekend Update (SNL)
Seth Meyers, Stefon
Ah, the Weekend Update skits with Stefon. I just recently remembered they were a thing that I loved and was so pleased to see this had been nominated for Yuletide. I think what I love most is how completely ridiculous Stefon is and how little Seth seems to care about that. I recently watched all the skits back-to-back, and it's really interesting to see how things gradually play out. I mean, it's pretty clear right away that Stefon is attracted to Seth, but I think it's also pretty clear that it's mutual (though more subtle, obviously, Seth gives Stefon a lot of leeway and keeps inviting Stefon into his life when he really doesn't need to).
As far as things I'd like to see, what is Stefon's life actually like? Is it really as crazy as he makes it sound, or are things generally more normal for him? Or how about that summer when Seth and Stefon took a vacation together. Where did they go, and what did they do? What does Seth's family think of Stefon, especially when he suddenly starts showing up to family holidays, and what does Stefon think of them? Or the other way around. What happens when Seth meets Stefon's family? Are they as strange as he is, and how does Seth get along with them? Maybe something about what their lives are like now that they're married? Did that change things a lot? They are seriously just so adorable together, I'd be happy to see pretty much anything.
