I had an appointment this week to have my eyes checked. I have glaucoma and should be using special eyedrops (Travatan) to keep the internal eye pressure down. I haven't been using my eyedrops since I ran out about two months ago because I wasn't working. Not only was I without a paycheck but I was without insurance and those eyedrops cost about $70 for a teeny little bottle.
My doctor asked how I was and I told him about my situation. He didn't scold me. He didn't even test me and charge me fifty bucks.
He said, "You haven't been taking the eyedrops so the machine is only going to tell us that your pressure is up. Let me give you some drops and you come back in a month or so." He then gave me two bottles of the Travatan.
So he saved me $140 in prescriptions plus the $50 for the test. Man, I was so happy! If any of you in the Fort Worth area need a good eye doctor, see Dr. S. Goode at the Advanced Glaucoma Center just south of Downtown.
