Caffeine Jitters

So in a desperate attempt at giving my metabolism a bit of a boost (and also my energy level during the day) I've taken to drinking green tea again.

I never really made a conscious effort to cut out caffeine completely, I just decided not to seek it out any more. I'd still have the occasional glass of unsweetened iced tea if I wanted something other than water, but I no longer had my daily morning cup of tea.

Last week I had one cup a day and that seemed to work well, but the internets suggested that you'd need at least 3 cups a day to see any benefits. Yesterday I had 3 cups and I felt a bit weird in the afternoon. I didn't drink them all back to back - I waited several hours in between cups. I am thinking that 3 might be too much.

I had one cup this morning and I was feeling a bit strange. It's like I have energy, but it's a fake energy. My head was a bit swimmy and I felt disconnected. Maybe I just need to get used to it again, or maybe my body just doesn't handle caffeine well anymore.

Blergh.

I just finished my second cup (I think this will be my limit now). We'll see how it goes.

The other thing I've been reading about is fish and fish oils and how they can boost metabolism. Since I can't stand any kind of seafood, I am going to look into fish oil supplements. Looks like I can get them from the drug store up the street and they aren't too pricey either. It's worth a try.

Had an awesome run today - my fastest yet!

Tuesday:
5 minutes at 5.5 mph
5 minutes at 6.2 mph
15 minutes at 6.0 mph
5 minutes at 5.8 mph
Total distance: 2.96
Average mile time: 10:08

This was all without stopping. I am soooo close to a full 3 miles in 30 minutes! I could probably do it now if I pushed myself, but I would rather gradually work my way up to it.

We saw The Hangover this past weekend. OMFG that movie was so freaking hilarious! My face hurt at the end, I was laughing that much. Srsly. But one question still remains - where did they get the chicken?

Other than that, not too much to report.

caffeine, health, movies, running
