Running and L.A. Traffic

So I've decided that as much as I would love to take up running, I don't want to risk injury right before this competition coming up.

I spoke with the other 'senior' dancer in class on Wednesday and was reminded about how we have a 3 hour dance class on Saturday morning and a 3 hour class on Sunday morning so adding a 2 hour training session on Sunday afternoon will just be too much. At least I am not on teams because that would add two more 3 hour classes to the schedule.

Apparently the dancers were dropping like flies with injuries last year at this time. Going from 0 to 60 instantly is never good for anyone.

We'll see how I do going from 1 1/2 hours of dance a week to 7 1 /2 hours.

Yesterday was absolutely horrible!

So there was a fire early in the morning right near the Ghetty center, along the 405 (the freeway I take to work).

Luckily by the time my carpool buddy and I set off for work the 405 was open again, but Sepulveda (the alternate route through the mountains) was still closed.

Needless to say our commute was a fucking nightmare. We couldn't get out of the valley! The stretch that normally would take 20 minutes tops (10 with no traffic) took an hour. Every where we turned it was a complete cluster fuck. I am just glad that I wasn't driving.

The only cool thing is that we got to see a helicopter drop water on the fire.

At work they offered a free flu shot. I had gotten one last year and although it gave me a bit of a head trip, I didn't get terribly sick last winter, so I figured I'd get one again.

I don't remember it being this bad last year. I felt like I was tipsy most of the day at work. My head was fuzzy and my arm hurt! I am even still a bit off this morning. Hopefully it will be worth it.

So the drive home was even worse. We seriously couldn't get out of the west side. It took over an hour and a half and most of that was spent just trying to get to the freeway (which was actually moving once we got on it).

And then to top that craptacular day off, there was a fucking spider on the door knob of my apartment building! I hate spiders.

I did not want to get up this morning. My neck and shoulders ache and the advil isn't helping.

At least it's Friday.

Oh wait. I can't fucking sleep in anymore on weekends *headdesk*
