This weekend
Saturday we went to Mudthaw. This was my first SCA event in 6 1/2 years and Jim's first event ever. I got to catch up with bunches of old friends that I haven't seen in a while. I saw one that I didn't even know was heavily invested in the SCA. It was very enjoyable event for me especially in that respect.
Jim is sold on the SCA. He had a great time. Unfortunately we got there a bit later then intended so we didn't get to see much fighting, fencing, or archery but he did enjoy what he did get to see and he has an interest in trying heavy weapons. He got to meet some people he has hears me talk about regularly (Wolfgang, Ko, David, Pippin, and Colleen among others) which is part of why he didn't get to see more fighting, but since we ran into David as he was finished fighting he got to see the after effects of it.
We sat through most of court, which was looooong because the current King and Queen are stepping down in a few weeks so there were a lot of awards to be distributed. Jim enjoyed the pageantry of it all.
Jim also LOVED the feast. He ate so much he didn't want breakfast this morning. I made us volunteer for servers since they needed bodies to put the food on the tables. Of course the people at his table thought "servers" meant "servants" and that he should pour their damn drinks for them. I guess it didn't occur to them that the servers also paid for the feast and deserved the right to eat as well. I set him straight on that as soon as I realized what was going on...
Today was less eventful but still had it's moment - I had a stupid butterfingers accident and dropped Jim's phone in a cup of tea so we went and got him a new phone. He's now got a Blackberry Curve.
