So, I finally finished watching all five movies, and here are my rankings of each:
1. Kung Fu Panda was awesomecore. It will have a home shortly in my DVD collection. :)
2. The Happening. Very dark. Very good. I can not believe it got such a crap rating. People are dumb.
3. Ghost Town. Dead people + snarky British actors = hilariousness.
4. City of ( Read more... )

I love M. Night Shyamalan and all his movies. I'm like you. I LOVED The Village and Lady In The Water. Have you seen Unbreakable, yet? It might be the comic book geek in me talking, but it was just as awesome.

The Happening, however...

I didn't NOT like it, let me get that out there. I'd totally watch it again. But it wasn't as epic as the rest of them. Gory and dark, yes. I just... Well, it would have made more sense if (I don't want to cause any spoilers here for those who want to and have not yet seen it) it was those "things" he was talking about in class that was the cause of all that. Not... Not the other "things". But that's just me.

It totally makes me afraid of said "other" things, though, every time they move. *snickers*

Anyway! Get your hands on Unbreakable, if you haven't, already!

LOL....that's okay. Not everyone likes the same thing. For instance, I saw unbreakable and didn't care for it. For you, I might try to watch it again. ;P

In regards to those things you are referring too...yeah, that was creepy, and it has been overly windy lately...

As for movie recommendations: In Bruges is a recent darkly funny flick with Colin Farrell. Have you ever seen Gattaca? It's one of my favorites ever.

I'm the exact opposite with the two of those I saw: I actually kind of enjoyed Journey to the Centre of the Earth. I saw it in the theater with the goofy glasses so that may have helped some... I wasn't all that impressed with City of Ember. Probably, that was a case of having read the book first.

Hancock was sort of fun. If you haven't already seen it, The Dark Knight was great.

Really?! I started reading City of Ember last night and already I can spot some discrepancies. I may have ruined it for myself by watching the movie first...

I loved the Dark Knight too! I went to see it in the theater, but it might be time to watch it at home! I will have to check Hancock out! Thanks for the rec's!

I thought Journey was all right. I liked that it wasn't really a remake of the original, but that they took it another step farther. And I saw it in 3D so maybe that helped. Of course I wasn't expecting a whole lot from it to begin with. :)

I just saw City of Ember, too! Last night! I really liked it and my first inclination was to go get the book, too.

And agreed on Kung Fu Panda!

There was an original? Wow, I am out of the loop! :P I heard good things from people that saw it in the theater, so maybe that's the difference?

Glad you liked City of Ember! I just started reading it last night (I am taking a break from Wicked).

Kung Fu Panda is so great! :) I just love it!

Journey to the Center of the Earth is also the Jules Verne book that they talked about in the movie. That is totally real. They made a movie out of it before which just took it pretty straightforward, so I liked that in this version they acknowledged that the book existed and went from there.
