How copy and paste from your LJ to Sick!Wilson

Mar 11, 2007 22:58

Once you've uploaded your fic to your LJ, and it's exactly the way you want it to look, posting to sick_wilson is a piece of cake.

  1. From your LJ, click the Edit Entry icon as if you were going to edit the fic you just posted.

  2. Select the HTML tab, even if you used the RTF tab when you uploaded your fic to your LJ.

Why?  Because some really bizarre things can happen when you copy and paste in RTF, like your lj-cut inexplicably moving to the middle of the page and only hiding a couple of random sentences, or everything's suddenly bolded and centered, or in the wrong order, etc. *shudders*  Using the HTML tab greatly reduces the chance of that happening.

Your code might look something like this:

See what I mean about RTF formatting code taking up a lot of space? :)

  3. Position your cursor anywhere within the text entry area.

Right-click with your mouse, and click Select All.

    Right-click, then Copy.

  4. If you use tabbed browsing, open a new tab now.  If not, you might want to paste what you just copied to Word or some other program to temporarily hold it for you.

  5. Go to sick_wilson, and click Post to this community.

  6. Select the HTML tab.

  7. Type the name of your fic in the Subject field.  If you're posting a multi-part story, be sure to include that information after your title, e.g., (1/#), or (1/?)

  8. Paste the code you just copied from your LJ to the text entry area.

  9. Enter your tags.  If you're not familiar with how our tagging system works, please read this info.

  10. Click Preview if you want to double-check to make sure everything looks all right.

  11. Click Post to sick_wilson and you're done!

See how easy that was? :)
