i got a second job.
where i'm actually USING my degree.
it's awesome!
it's at a residential facility for girls aged 11 to 20 who basically are one step away from being put into lockdown. i'm a child care worker, which basically means i work with the treatment team (therapist, case workers, case manager, and family if they're involved) to help the girls learn life skills, work out their issues, learn how to live with mental illness (if they have any, which most do) and achieve their self-set goals.
i love it!
i absolutely love the girls too.
the only cons: it's a PAY-CUT from my other job. i make LESS, which is SAD. very sad, because my catering job doesn't pay much, but since it pays more that's why i decided to keep it. and sometimes when incidents happen (it's 12 girls living in one house of course there's going to be drama) the hours get long. my shifts are either supposed to be 8 or 12 hours, but there have been occasions where i've stayed 13 or 14. CRAZY.
but really, i'm pretty happy with my decision to take the job. i like it alot, and i feel like i'm getting my feet wet in the field i want to go into.
in other news, i might see iron and wine, and story of the year in june and april, respectively. OH BOY!
also, i randomly am very excited to get married soonish. we decided to put the kaibash on the whole huge wedding thing and save the money we would have spent and elope somewhere reallyfreakingnice. we're looking at places now, and i'm pretty stoked. yay love.
but, i must do the homework now. i have alot to catch up on!
